Peru Cutervo Microlot Elver Maluquis

Peru is one of our favorite coffee origins, both for the quality of its coffee and for its warm, open culture. We are delighted to offer this limited edition microlot from smallholder Elver Maluquis of Cutervo in Cajamarca. 

This lot exclusively comprises Caturra and delivers the exceptional sweetness we expect from that cultivar. The initial impression is of apricot lavashak or fruit leather, milk chocolate, and hazelnuts (a Nutella and dried apricot sandwich, is what I wrote). The body is round and the acidity is more malic than citric—a pleasant tartness that lends itself to the overall balance of this very drinkable coffee. 

For this limited release, we do not offer you experimentation. This is a classic washed coffee without any unusual fermentation methods or shocking fruit flavors. Instead, this is a traditional varietal from an experienced producer grown at very high altitude. It's this combination of plant genetics, lengthy ripening period, and meticulous processing that are the foundation of Specialty coffee, and in this cup, everything has gone right. We could drink it all day.
